Kontrollfahrt — can I use my own car?
Yes, for the kontrollfahrt (license exchange) you can use any car you like.
Feel free to choose your car — and if you like, I coach you in your own vehicle.
Sometimes it’s not quite as efficient as using mine (because mine is fully equipped for teaching), and the responsibility on you is a bit higher, but it’s absolutely possible.
Normal driving exam — different rules
For the regular driving exam with a learner’s permit, the car must have a handbrake reachable by the instructor — one that cannot release automatically when you press the accelerator.
You can test this easily:
drive slowly while holding the accelerator steadily, and let your passenger pull the handbrake.
If the car stops safely, it’s fine.
If it keeps moving, it’s not allowed for instruction or exams.
Do the costs change if I bring my own car for lesson?
No — the price stays the same.
Using your car often means extra time for parking or logistics, and i also take a bit more risk than in my fully equipped school car.
So the cost remains unchanged.
